Chris JenkinsI am a professional artist, born in South east London in 1979. Originally trained as an illustrator at Falmouth College of arts, Cornwall, my work has diversified to include sculpture, public art and environmental enhancement. I am an experienced workshop leader, qualified youth worker and trained gallery educator. I have been teaching a wide range of art based skills and concepts in schools and galleries since 2006. I was selected for the Arts Council ‘Enquire’ gallery education program in 2007 and have participated in professional development and workshop delivery throughout it’s three phases and continue to do so.
I have experience working with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds from primary school age through to A-level. As well as mainstream schools, I have worked on prolonged projects with Wessex Youth Offending Team, Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH), Two special schools and a referral unit for excluded pupils, all with excellent results, creating vibrant responses from young people who can have difficulty engaging or special needs.
I also have experience working for private and public commissions, working for Council departments and historical societies. This public and private sector work has given me the necessary skills to manage a budget and my time effectively and communicate with clients and if necessary create my own briefs.
